Tango Basics- Fundamentals of Argentine Tango An On-going Class. No Experience Necessary
Classes are taught in month-long series. Without experience, entry into the series is recommended only during the first two weeks of each month. With focus on posture, balance, the "walk", contra-position,musicality, building the embrace and connection, this class concentrates on the basic salida, pivots, ochos, simple turns and emphasizes improvisation and technique.
Beyond Basics- Complimentary Elements in Tango An On-going Class. Experience Recommended
This class will include, but is not limited to giros (turns), sacadas (displacements), ganchos (hooks), changes of direction, boleos, amagues, adornments, off axis moves and a variety of step sequences. In addition, we will be introducing other distinctive styles of dance within the overall category of Argentine tango- vals, milonga and canyengue.

One couple: two leaders, two followers Learn to dance Tango as it was originally taught in Buenos Aires.
Walter Perez Bio:Walter Perez began dancing Tango in his hometown of Buenos Aires in 1993. Since then, he has dedicated his career to studying Argentine Tango and the broad spectrum of Latin dances. Walter has trained in various styles and techniques with renowned Tango instructors such as: Juan Carlos Copes, Graciela Gonzalez and Pupy Castello,Pepito Avellaneda,Efrain Ordonez,Jose Garofalo, Rodolfo Dinzel, Osvaldo Sotto and Lorena Hermosida, Jorge Torres. He has performed in Argentina with several dance companies ( Neotango,Los Tangueros,De rifilon), participated on Television variety shows (Susana Gimenez,Video Match,Las tres Marias). During 1999 and 2000 he was touring in Argentina and Uruguay with the show Tangou (artistic director:Anibal Pachano) In 2000,he moved to NY ,where he teaches and performs Credits:All that Tango,Red,Tango and Flamenco Fusion,The Trip,Let's Speak Tango. He was featured as principal in a national commercial for Coldwell Banker. His latest accomplishment is as a featured dancer in the Romartis Production of " Tango first century" 2009 and "Spotlight on Tango" 2010/2011,directed by Romulo Larrea ; touring around Quebec , Canada; different theatres in California and in NYC at the Town Hall theatre. He was the founder and Artistc director of "manoAmano" tango dance company presentations:2010:Roseland Ballroom,Lafayette Grill ,Cielo ( Cipriani Wall street),Fundraiser 20th gala for Latin Commission on Aids ,6 th Anniversary Cinemarosa,Queens Museum,Museo del Barrio. Presently he is the director and choreographer with Leonardo Sardella of "Malevaje"
Leo Sardella Bio:Leonardo Sardella started dancing professional Tango in his hometown of Buenos Aires in 2000. He has trained with renowned Tango instructors such as Juan Carlos Copes, Rodolfo Dinzel, Osvaldo Sotto and Lorena Hermosida, Javier Rodriguez, Angel Coria, Jorge Firpo and Aurora Lubiz, Maria and Carlos Rivarola, Cristina Cortez He has performed in Argentina with several dance companies such as: Tango Desire, EV Tango, Bien De Tango, Raza Tango, Tango del Vicentenario, Open Tango. Participated in tango shows for : Boca Tango, Sabor a Tango, La Ventana, Bar Sur, Madero Tango among others. He was assistant choreographer in the Malena Eternamente Tango musical and choreographer and principal dancer of the show Cacho Castagna, and he danced in major theaters as the Nacional Cervantes, Nacional de la Plata, Teatro Colon and Nacional San Martin. In 2010,he moved to NY, where he teaches and performs at Milongas: La Nacional, Session 73 and, Dancesport with Helen "La Vikinga" He also participed with Malevaje at: Queer Tango Festival San Francisco, Queer Tango Festival Mexico, Boston Queer Community, Arthur Murray studios in Hamdem and for Hispanic Federation, (Get Up, Get Moving) Presently he is the director and choreographer with Walter Perez of "Malevaje".

Class 1 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm Posture,Walking and Musicality ( all levels) We all struggle with the most important fundamentals of Tango. Learn how to find your best posture,finding your core, staying connected with your inside and project a solid and firm presence on the floor. Walk,walk,walk, different directions move wherever you want. Open your ears,your body must move harmoniously with the music. Discover the structure of tango music, the beat, changes of speed, enjoy the pauses, dance the silence.
15 minute practice and questions
Class 2 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm Connection work as o! ne with your partner ( Beg / Inter) The Tango couple get transform in a monster with four feet. Steps to getting engaged on the floor. How to keep connected working as a machine without losing your independence. Giving time to the other half to express, embellishments when and how. Followers suggestions: how to do it without imposing . The embraces,which one?
15 minute practice and questions
Class 3 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm One stop 7 resolutions (inter) From a "Parada" six different ways to move on. Find a full connection with your feet (lead/follow). Learn to never anticipate. Lead like an octopus,your feet are your first pair of hand. Followers paint a complete rainbow with your expressive feet.( Slides,barridas,boleos,ganchos,sacadas,volcadas)

Milonga Lisa: Milonga is a fast Tango rhythm, cheerful and playful. Discover the origins of this dance (African roots, habanera and candombe). Exercise finding the beat. Steps that travel sideways and facing the line of dance . La baldosa, simple with turns and soltadas.

Milonga with Traspie: Learn how to dance in the subdivisions of the music, syncopations. Traspie come from a military march and it is use to change foots while keeping the time, doing two switch in one time. Actually in Milonga w/traspie we use a triple step where we use quicks instead of slow beats. Patterns & fakes. La baldosa w/traspie.

Class 3 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm
Argentine Tango Vals:
Romantic and smooth; glade skating the whole floor. Playful figures that transport us to a ride in a carrousel .Turns (molinete) technique for leaders and followers. Incorporate ,sacadas, barridas, kicks and ganchos to your turns.
