Meet the Teachers

As Instructors, Val and Glenda have developed an easy- going yet energetic teaching style for their classes that encourages their students to have fun as they learn the basic elements of tango and motivates them to go beyond "the steps" to their own self-expression. Their ultimate objective is to pass on the concept of  "intuitive improvisation," a combination of the traditions and principles of Argentine tango and an understanding of how to respond to what the music directs the dancer to do.
As Students, Val and Glenda have studied intensively, both in the United States and in Buenos Aires with many of tango's foremost maestros, including the elegant and world-acclaimed Nito and Elba Garcia, master teachers for the Festival of the city of Buenos Aires, Ernesto Balmaceda and Stella Baez, and the legendary Marta Anton and "El Gallego" Manolo, their mentors. In 2011, they spent nine days in Buenos Aires, training extensively with Oscar Mandagaran and Georgina Vargas in their style of teaching.
As Ambassadors, in 2007, Val and Glenda founded the Dallas Chapter of Mo.C.C.A,. Movimiento Cultural Canyengue Argentino, dedicated to the teaching and celebration of Tango Canyengue, the vibrant and expressive root style of tango from the turn of the twentieth century that is again sweeping the world of Argentine tango. In 2009, they were invited to perform tango canyengue at Los Lunes en Viejo Correro in Buenos Aires.
As Artists, Val and Glenda have participated in numerous exhibitions across Texas and Oklahoma, including the State Fair of Texas for the past six years and Artfest Fort Worth for the past three years. In 2010, they were part of the cast of "Tango Dreams" at the Rose Marine Theater in Fort Worth. In 2011, they were Featured Dancers in "Noche de Amor," also at the Rose Marine.Click here  to see one of our Rose Marine Performances. In September of 2011, they were invited to perform with Montango, one of America's premier tango orchestras at the historic Kessler Theatre in Dallas. As Choreographers, in 2011,Val and Glenda were contracted by Richard Curtin, actor, singer and entertainment director of Caven Enterprises, to choreograph a music video for his soon-to-be released CD featuring a "swoony, kitchy" rendition of 'Say That We're Sweethearts Again." Plans are being made for a collaboration on a "tango dream sequence" to be included in his next movie, scheduled to begin filming in 2012. Click here  to see "Say That We're Sweethearts Again."
